So I have an 80GB iPod Classic and I used to have a 500GB external drive where my iTunes library lived. iTunes (9) itself is of course on my main internal HD.

The external 500 died this morning, taking my library with it. I have another drive to put it on to (well, by tomorrow). My iTunes now thinks all my music is at the default location. How can I (or is there a way) gracefully get my music from my iPod to my computer in such away that I don't have to reimport? Can I save my ratings and playlists?

I recently changed the iTunes organization to the new 9 style, but I don't think I updated my iPod to reflect those changes...

I also have a ton of Podcasts. Am I going to have to re-subscribe?

This has been an awful, awful week for me. Any help you guys could give me would be most appreciated.

use these two programs to recover and retag you files file salvage and jaikoz you have to pay for them (not much) but they will recover about 90% of your files
