Hi everyone,
my old win laptop just f***** up by crashing its whole body, but luckily the hard disk is safe.
Now that I've safely extracted it, I'd like to use it via-usb (with the adaptor) for booting win xp from my Mac without getting troubled by installing bootcamp or anything else; but as you may know win xp doesn't allow the boot from usb ports.
I've installed rEFIt and tried to boot, but I got that message:
(image)
rEFIt - Booting Legacy OS
Starting legacy loader
Using load options 'USB'
Error: Not Found returned from legendary loader
The firmware refused to boot from the selected volume. Note that external hard drives are not well-supported by Apple's firmware for legacy OS booting.
- Hit any key to continue -
and then goes back to the rEFIt menu.
how can I do what I wanna do? Is there a method to "modify" something (i.e. system files) in order to make win xp boot from usb?
There are much guides on the net which say how to install and boot xp from usb, but I'd like to not re-install it, since it has already been installed when the hd was internal.
