hello people,

I am new to macs and ipod touch / iphones. i would like to know what i should do if i wish to lean how to make an app for the device. i assume there is an sdk but the only one i have seen are on the apple site where you have to pay a minimum of 99 bucks to get it. Is there a free sdk for the device and also what programing language does it use?

Sorry if the question isnt in the correct location but as i said i am new here and people need to start somewhere.

Thanks for your time people

You can download the SDK for free from apple, and test using the simulator software. To put an app on a real device and to submit it to the store for sale/free you have to pay the $99 developer fee.

Code is written in Objective-C and all programming must be done on a Intel Mac with Leopard.

I've only been programming for a little while and had only experience with C. But there are so many tutorials out there helping with the SDK, its really not very difficult to get some basic apps on the simulator and/or device.

Its well worth paying the $99 once you get a little further into programming. Because even though the simulator is good, its no replacement for the real devices.
