Hey yall
I'm living outside the states, and the iphone is not released in my country (Lebanon).. so i wanna get the iPhone and unlock it here..
i wanna get my cousin to buy it for me from the states and send it to me..
What should he do? will he sign a contract when he buys it from an apple retailer??
What should he do exactly?

He could buy one, and cancel the contract immediately...or just try Ebay. You would then need to buy a RebelSim http://rebelsimcard.com/virtu/ to unlock it. The whole thing is going to cost you about $850...

How can i deactivate the contract?
what do u mean it will cost that much? will i pay for the contract?

Yea, the $175 is straight across the board for US cell phone providers. I'm going to be canceling my verizon account to get the iPhone 3G :D

The iPhone 3G will soon be available at a NO contract price. But you'd have to wait for that.

As for canceling the account, they're not letting you these days, until you have passed at least the 30-day mark.

Local CRAIGSLIST

Look for CRAIGSLIST in any web browser in or near your city. This is a localized buy/sell site. You can find an iphone under "electronics"...when in the electronics setion, search for "iphone". This should give you some local ads... buy in person that day.
