The M1 Ultra is designed for desktop. The M1 Max is the laptop equivalent. The 16" MacBook Pro with M1 Max 64GB RAM is insanely powerful.

Not possible. And won't ever be possible. Far too much power consumption and heat generation for a laptop, which is why it doesn't exist in one.

just for info, what do you do on your mac that cannot be done with MAX when its so very disappointing ?
I‘m a scientist and developer.
Also a businessman and chess player.
I can easily kill the M1 MAX with only one of the 4 points I mentioned above.

Just being any of those four things, or even all of them at the same time, does not presumptively "kill" the M1 Max. And if you think it does, spend $8,000 for the spec'd out Max Ultra Studio to play chess with yourself.

This may be another attempt to start a discussion about M1's poor performance in Stockfish chess. Otherwise anybody can see on Apple's site that Ultra is not for MBP.

If you're so advanced, you cannot search and figure out of you can buy M1 Ultra into MacBook Pro?

I cast serious doubt that the M1 Max is insufficient. I'd like to see picture proof that the M1 Max is underpowered. Please provide the specs of your MacBook Pro.

Also like, get a Mac Studio if you truly need more performance. There is no, and will not be, an M1 Ultra MacBook Pro. The whole point of the chip is that it's scaled up due to not having the power and thermal constraints that a laptop has.
