I want to 'screenshare' from one computer but something less cpu intensive then the screen sharing application on macs. Im looking into a hardware alternative, i've heard about capture cards can anyone explain how it would work?

Also i have tried using fire 800 cables and using livedv program to do this but the quality was really poor, does anyone know why?

The built in screen sharing on Mac is NOT CPU intensive.

Recording a high resolution display is CPU intensive. So if you want to do that, then turn the resolution down to 1024x768 on both machines or something like that.
