How to change 'downloads' folder animation

Hello everyone,

I accidentally removed the downloads folder from the dock on El Cap. When I dragged it back from the sidebar in Finder, the animation is different. I'd like it to open up like it did previously (more like a folder like animation with a list of all the downloads). Now it opens up like a genie like animation with an option of "Open more in Finder" or something of that sort. Gets very annoying for someone like me who has an unsorted downloads folder. Help is appreciated.

This may be what you're looking for....

Right-click the download folder in the dock and under "View Content As", it's probably set to "Fan". Change it to "Grid"
