How to change email tone.

Hi everyone

I just jailbroke my iPhone using the pwnage tool and i have customize installed but every time i do something the changes dont take or effect or it goes back to the main screen. I reinstalled it few times but same problem, i read something about a fix but not sure were to get it from i even done the fix through SSH. Any help would be great thanks.

Also i have netshare on the pc how to i get it onto the iphone. Thanks

I can't help you if Customize is working improporly, but ...

SSH into your phone with Cyberduck or Fugu or the like and navigate to /System/Library/Audio/UISounds

These are the system sounds. You can replace these sounds with custom sounds if you want. Just take AIFF audio files and rename then *.caf with their respective names, the mail's name slips my mind at this time, you'll see it, it's probably mailreceived.caf or something like that. Just make a backup of the old one so you can go back and change it back if you want.

When you make the change, you won't even need to restart your iPhone.

Sync your phone.
 
Its a downloaded version not the real thing. I had the real one and got wiped of my phone when i was syncing on another machine. Contacted Apple and they said they cant help me.

So i thought i jailbreak the phone and get it added. I just tried adding it to itunes and syncing and i get Error 0xe8000001).
 
so i changed the tone on the ssh then signed out of it tried it on my ipod but it still uses the default. i reconnected to ssh and it was still the one i put on. wat do i do?
 
by the way that error means you can no longer connect to your computer reset you ipod manully

Because the file of the tone may be to big??

These sounds are in ---- > System/Library/Audio/UISounds/

You will see a .caf file in there called new-mail.caf. You need to replace this .caf file with your own .caf file. In order for you to get your .mp3 to a .caf file, you will need to do a little conversion.

Renaming alone will not do it with an MP3. conversion is necessary.

CAF is a renamed AIFF file (*.aif). AIFF is an uncompressed file (like a .WAV file).

iTunes can convert any file imported into an AIFF if you go into preferences/general/importing and select the AIFF encoder. Then just rename the file to the proper *.caf file you want to replace and SSH it to the phone.

You can replace SMS sounds, e-mail sound, voice mail sounds, dialer sounds, etc.

Make sure you save a back up of the original.

Respring or reboot.
 
Customize hasnt worked for a LONG time for me. Like, many firmware updates. I dont think it gets updated anymore.

Which version of itunes are you on?

I couldnt get this to work...how to change the file name once its in itunes?

Ahh, Westerville..I know where that is..lol.

Yep:D Halloween is coming up! i usually go over for a couple hours. I'm too old nowadays to pull all nighters. :eek:
