I don’t know how to change away from Dutch. I have set my preferred language to English uk, us and Dutch. However I often open websites that have novels, although the site is in English, the content is a different language. But safari never allows me to “suggest” to translate to English rather than Dutch. Anyone know how to suggest the language you want per website?
thanks, that's also in my case when using in page selection of text and then tap on translate the selection. However I am wondering about the other translate function within safari.
My pages are really long (novels) and on an iPad/iPhone is really not easy to select all the relevant text within safari/browser. The way I normally use translate is to do page translate when tapping on the option / menu in safari left of the URL. That's the question I am wondering. Perhaps it's just a limitation when the page is designated as EN(glish) and part of is non-English the page translation doesn't work. I tried deepl extension but I can't seem to make it work either. Any ideas would be helpful if the entire page can be translated.
I don`t like the integrated translation. Since a few weeks I am using kagi translate. It is free and respects privacy.
There are two easy ways to use it on your iPhone/ipad. Just add "translate.kagi.com/" in front of your website you want to translate and that`s it. The translation quality is very good. They are using LLM for that.
Just go to your keyboard settings and create a textreplacment for "translate.kagi.com/". I just have to enter "!!tl" in front of the url and hit enter.
Or you can save this text as bookmark (best if you do it on a mac or windows and sync it):
When you are on the website you want to translate, you can just open this bookmark and it translates automatically to 244 different languages. You can also only select text on the website and open the bookmark and only this part will be translated.
I am very happy with it. I am not related to kagi. I just really like their translating service which can be used without login or anything else.
