For some reason my password I thought (and suggested by Keychain) doesn't work. I had to restore my iPad and could not figure it out (I also keep an iCloud backup). How do I change, reset or recover the password? I tried looking in Keychain but don't see it. Don't mind losing the past backups and starting over (since I have iCloud) but don't see a way to do this.

This is about it: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205220

If you go to the iTunes preferences and choose the backup, control click and then show in finder, then copy that folder name and paste it into Keychain Access you might be able to get it.

If Keychain Access can't get it, those backups are encrypted for good.
Thanks, I found it in Keychain and it is the password I thought it was. However iTunes will not accept it. I even copy/paste from Keychain and it still doesn't work. If I delete all the backups will it let me start over and enter a 'new' password?

EDIT: Even stranger is the iPad backup is showing up in Keychain but is labeled as iPhone Backup. When I search for the iPhone's Backup in Keychain nothing shows up. However they should both use the same password, but neither works.

Thanks, I guess I will just have to wait until near the end of the moth and see if setting up as new and then restoring from iCloud will work. I have to be sure I have enough data left on my plan.
