I can't figure out for the life of me how to change the Apple Maps voice? It used to be a pleasant female voice in iOS 14, but in the iOS 15 gets it changed to some angry dudes voice.

How do I change it back, don't see the options in Settings.

crap - never mind - didn't notice this was iOS15

I'm hoping what you're seeing is a bug in the beta version that will be fixed!

It’s whatever your Siri voice is set to.

I have Siri disabled never once used it since I bought my 12 promax back in December. I'm a "Hey Google" Nexus / Pixel kind of guy I don't like iOS.

But this is my phone until the Pixel 6 is available.

So to change the voice do I need to first enable Siri?

Starting with iOS 14.6 (or might’ve been 14.5), they changed Siri so instead of having “Male“ and “Female” voices, they gave them gender neutral naming (Voice 1, Voice 2, etc.) in addition to adding 2 new voices. The old ”Male” voice is now Voice 1, so if you have Siri off, anything that would normally be handled by Siri will default to Voice 1.

You could try enabling Siri, changing the voice (the old “Female” voice is Voice 4), and then disabling Siri to see if it saves it (It has to download the other Siri voices first which is why).
