Changing the background is easy when logged in. But when I am at the screen to select user and type the password, that wallpaper is a vestige of when a projector was plugged in at a different resolution. How do I change it now? The screens option in settings will not get me to it. Must I edit in the library?? How to find and do??

The utility OnyX lets you change the login background image (among a number of other parameters on your Mac)
There's a version for each Mac system version. Download the correct OnyX for the system that you are using.

Outstanding suggestion!! DeltaMac this gave me so much more than I hoped for that I want to begin learning more about the Library(s). Thank you!
