As I reinstalled my Mac mini M1 yesterday I haven't installed Rosetta 2 (as far as I know) but am running Dropbox, that I installed almost immediately. Some say it's not "Native M1". Perhaps "Universal"
But, can I check if Rosetta 2 is installed some how?

Rosetta comes installed with Big Sur. No need to check. It already is.

Ah, ok. When I got my Mac mini the other week I got a popup saying to install Rosetta 2 to be able to install som application. I didn't get that notification yesterday.

If you're running Dropbox, Rosetta 2 is working. Dropbox is not yet M1 (Universal) native. Dropbox is currently only running Intel code, so if your Dropbox app & Finder integration is working, so is Rosetta 2.

I understand. How come that I didn't get the notification about installing Rosetta 2 (as I got when first firing up my Mac mini)?
Is the notification removed in Big Sur 11.2.3?

E: I have "/System/Library/CoreServices/Rosetta 2 Updater.app" installed. Is this the Rosetta 2 app?

That's just an updater for Rosetta 2. Rosetta 2 isn't an app, it's an underlying framework of Mac OS that can translate x86 code into ARM-based code on Macs running Apple Silicon.

Rosetta only needs to be installed once.

The other thing to note is that Rosetta 2 installs so quickly that it could have installed right in front of you and you simply missed it. When the OS installed it on my MBP, I think the dialog box was up for maybe 3-4 seconds at most.

Sounds like it might be a bug. I definitely got notified the first time I ran an Intel architecture application. I didn't cancel though so I have no idea if the notice keeps popping up until it is accepted. It probably should be but it seems like a very minor problem if it doesn't.

Yes, as I stated in my post. I did get the notification first time I started up my brand new Mac mini, but after yesterdays reinstall of OS (wiped disc) I can't recall getting the notification. Perhaps I just missed it some how or it's installed by default, and activated in Big Sur 11.2.3

I checked my Dropbox-app and it's a Intel version, so at least I know it's activated.

I'll mark this thread/topic as solved (if it's possible?)

Just in case, you can install Rosetta through the Terminal:

Enter the following command:
Code:
softwareupdate --install-rosetta
Next, agree to the License Agreement, and that's it.

Or you can also use this command to accept the License Agreement directly within the command
Code:
softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license

Hope it helps!

I tried these commands, but I've been getting this error, "Installing Rosetta 2 on this system is not supported." Is there any workaround for this?

Is your Mac an Apple Silicon Mac? I've only seen that error on an Intel Mac which of course wouldn't need Rosetta.
