How-to chop up a video file?

I am in need of some way to trim a video file, much like audacity can for audio. Just simple cutting, no effects, transitions, etc. The files are mpeg2, if that matters. I'd prefer an open-source/freeware alternative, as I don't ever see myself having to do this again.

I'd even settle for a Windows-based solution...I just need the files broken up. So far, I have tried Jahshaka (Mac & Win) and VirtualDub (Win) with no success (Jahshake hangs on import, and VirtualDub won't handle mpeg2).

I'm just answering off the top of my head, but I think MPEGStreamclip may do what you need. QuickTime Pro with MPEG2 playback component may also do the job, but that's $30 for QT Pro, plus another $20 for the MPEG2 playback component.

Thanks, I'll give MPEGStreamclip a go a little later. ffmpegX is a fantastic app, but it really is just an encoder. I use it quite frequently.
