Hello Guys,

My MBP has this weird shiny Apple Logo on a lid.

It gets dirty very fast. I tried to clean it using dry microfibre, microfibre with water, special cleaning cloth (one use product).

It is cleaner but there are stains which are visible under daily light. I find during cleaning that there are dots marks looking like a grain of dust, but I cannot remove it. There are also some stains which I cannot remove. Visible only when I direct light to my logo and look deeply.

1.Do you clean logo? How do you clean logo?
2.Have you noticed dots looking like grains of dust which cannot be removed on Apple logo?

I know that this is not a big deal, but I wanted to ask, I like to keep my devices in perfect condition and clean.

Awaiting your reply on it.

Rgds.

I believe Apple stopped recommending iKlear back in 2011 and dropped it from their stores. I am really not sure why they did, but when I had a "staingate" issue with my display, the tech specifically told me not to use it anymore.

However, a lot of folks still do use it and don't seem to have any issues. One user on MR asked me if he could have the bottle I had just purchased when I mentioned in a post that I wasn't going to use it anymore. I sent it to him and as far as I know, he is happily using it. So, I really don't know what the deal was with it.

Both the Apple stores near me now use Woosh!. I am also not sure how Woosh! varies from iKlear in terms of ingredients, but that is what they have been using for years at the two near me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

use Screen Mom Screen Cleaner. I use it on pretty much all my electronics. you can find it on Amazon, etc

Now that Apple has decided to make the logo as a decoration, and not backlit, the "clarity" of the logo is not exactly relevant, at least in my opinion
You COULD do the same that you see on multiple TV programs, where the show covers the logo with tape, or some other method to hide the logo. THAT would keep the logo cleaner, long term.

I had my old macbook screen replaced a couple of months back and they asked how I cleaned it and I said iklear and they didn't bat an eyelid. It does work on the shiny logo which gets dirty again soon when it goes in its leather sleave - well not exactly dirty filmy?

Having said iklear looks and smells exactly the same as the stuff I use the clean my telescope lens with (Baader optical wonder fluid) which to smells like isoprophenol, distilled water and detergent with a sprinkle of pixie dust

Just breath on it like people do with eye glasses and wipe it with clean cloth. The condensation of your breath is almost pure water, distilled water.

It is hard not to leave residue from cleaners making the mirror finish not appear so clean.

Do the free trick and shine.
