Hi,

My browser is starting to change search engines randomly. How do I clean my mac of viruses and malware? Please excuse my newbness here I'm coming from the PC world.

I'm using a 2012 mac pro with high sierra.

All the best,

MalwareBytes is vary good.

the problem "My browser is starting to change search engines randomly" sounds like you have been installing "junk" or "dangerous" apps or app's with bundled stuff (the nice way to put it).

iv seen it most with things like "mac cleaners" with friends computers

1 best thing you can do is use https://www.malwarebytes.com/ (it's free and safe)
2 then open your web browsers one by one checking all add-ons and preferences for unwanted things.
3 look in your app folder and google the name of applications to check if there legit or not, wiki is a good place to look
good example is "mackeeper" a real nasty app https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacKeeper wiki mentions there being sued for being evil

be safe when using the web, dont grab torrents etc

PS what version of osx are you on?

My advice - back up your data fast as you can and try clean install Mac OS for your own safely - some of the virus or malware can’t be detected by anti-virus or anti-malware that’s the problems.
