How to clean your Air?

I got a few oil stain on my Air body already and am wondering how to clean them. With Alcohol? Any suggestion?

Seriously, though, I tend to use the same stuff to clean the body of my MacBook Pro as I use to clean the screen - iKlear + the microfibre cloth it comes with. Works fine for me...

Agreed, microfiber cloth is the best bet. If you don't have something iKlear, just use water.

Whatever you do don't spray anything on the MBA, apply it to the cloth and then wide it. Otherwise you might get liquids where you don't want them.

Don't use alcohol as it is too strong, and could damage the finish on the notebook, if you do go that route make sure it is well diluted.

You can't go wrong with iKleer.

Echoing what others have said:

• TURN THE MBA OFF COMPLETELY BEFORE CLEANING.
• DO NOT SPRAY ANYTHING ON THE MACHINE, UNLESS THE DIRECTIONS SAY SPECIFICALLY THAT IT'S OK (I am thinking of iKlear here, which, if I remember correctly, says to spray it directly on the screen -- if you do this, the screen should be horizontally flat, so that liquid doesn't drain down into the casing).
• Dampen a microfiber cloth or a clean white cloth (a t-shirt can work well) with a little water (make sure it's damp, not dripping) and use that to wipe the aluminum surfaces.
• To clean the screen, you can either use iKlear, or a microfiber cloth that's either dry or slightly damp... you can also just breathe on the screen and wipe that with a cloth.
• Don't use canned air. This just ends up blowing stuff deeper into your machine.

Personally, I'd recommend not cleaning the screen obsessively... the glossy surface could be prone to wear and it would suck if part of your screen started looking different because you wore off the coating.

I found something that is probably more readily available than iKlear. It's Monster Cable TV Screen cleaning kit. You can find it in any store like Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, etc. It's a non-alchohol based cleaner that is safe for plasma, lcd screens. I use this on my entire machine and it works great. The kit comes with the cleaner and a microfiber cloth for $19.99. As others have noted spray the cloth not the actual computer.

I've used alcool + toilet paper to remove a big ink stain and worked like a charm.

Obviously DO NOT use it on the monitor. I've used it on the alluminium surface and on the touchpad too

Just a damp lint-free cloth will work just fine. I've always used that for cleaning "everything". Finish off with the micro fiber cloth if you wish, but when the moisture evaporates, it should be streak free. I use this for all my screens also and never had a problem. The lcd screen is not as delicate as some make it sound.

Just get a cover like the invisishield and never have to worry about stains or marks on your notebook. I have it on all of my notebooks. Bit glossy, but it looks great to me. Plus, it provides a bit of grip to the surfaces, so it feels secure when you grab the MBA with one hand.

Do NOT use one of those on your MBA's screen (or any other laptop screen, for that matter). They are abrasive and you will screw up your screen's glossy coating.

There is absolutely nothing better to clean the macbook/ MBA body with than Mr. Clean Magic Eraser..you can get it at any supermarket/drugstore..
just take a little bit of the sponge (cut off a small square) wet it a little bit and then squeeze out the excess water...and rub it gently on the body..
DO NOT USE IT ON THE SCREEN..however I guarantee that it will remove each and every stain from your MBA/macbook that can be removed..
I completely removed all the yellow staining/discoloration from my macbook trackpad with the greatest of ease.
It's truly an amazing product!
and it only costs like 5 bucks for 4 squares which have lasted me over a year!
