How to completely clean out a iPhoneSimFree 1.1.1 unlocked iPhone

before 1.1.1 I had a iPhone unlocked with the baseband corrupting free unlock solution. Then 1.1.1 came along and I decided to cough up the cash to do a proper sim unlock. Trouble is my battery life has been very bad since the upgrade. I suspect that one of the programs used during the unlocking process might have left something behind that is eating up juice.

First of all is it safe to do a restore to 1.1.1 again (I have the firmware file) via iTunes on my iPhone? I have not seen it mentioned anywhere. If I restore to 1.1.1 via iTunes will the sim still be unlocked and I would only need to do a new jail brake? Secondly does a restore truly wipe everything out and do a complete wipe of all files on the iPhone or do I have to resort to more extreme measures?

I don't want to run third party programs since I don't need that crap on my phone, I just want to be able to put my sim in it and use it. I don't want anything Apple did not ship with the phone to stick around in there and maybe crap things up.

The crap you say is what you need to fix up things. Ironic isn't it? Once you unlock you get the whole bundle.

Does Jail brake put crap on the iPhone? I thought it just emulated iTunes telling the phone to activate and that is it. The sim is already unlocked, and if restoring 1.1.1 does not brake the sim unlock, just like it didn't with 1.0.1 then no extra crap should migrate over to the phone. That is if restore actually wipes the phones completely clean, which I hope it does.

I just need to confirm that restoring 1.1.1 to a iPhoneSimFree unlocked iPhone does not brake the sim unlock and that at the same time does wipe the phone clean, kid of like a format of the system.
