How to completely remove AirPods from your Apple ID?

I'm having some problems with my AirPods Pro and AirPods Pro 2, where they keep getting forgotten by my iPhone and Mac. I want to remove them from my account altogether (as if I am going to sell them to someone else) and reconnect them as if they were brand new, but I'm unsure how to do that.

Can someone help me out with this, please? It is a strange problem that has only started happening recently.
