How to completely remove Graboid

Sorry, I'm using tapatalk, but I think I posted this in the wrong place last time and hope this is the right place.



I have a MBPr 2015 that I just purchased not too long ago. I've never used macs before now and just took the plunge. I installed a program called Graboid which I thought I'd find useful but didn't so I went to remove it. I read online how to delete a mac program by dragging it from applications to the trashcan. I did this however the annoying parts of the program are still there. Keeps giving this little "Download" popup over any video. I'm trying to read on my sports forum and it is blocking messages. Plus it really annoys me that I went to delete something and it's still there. One of the reasons I went to mac was to avoid these "windows" annoyances. So what must I do to delete everything about this program? I've been reading and apparently it isn't malware it's just crapware. Are there any good uninstallers that maybe will do the job better? Should i reinstall the program then use some other type of program to uninstall it? Or if there's a list of steps I'll follow them. Frankly I hate this company.

Use an app like "app cleaner" it's free

Run the utility Etrecheck once and it will show the location of any startup or launch items and their location. You can then use that information to find the file that is launching and causing this.

ok so I've tried using appcleaner, even installed the program again thinking maybe appcleaner needed to remove it itself to trace the rest and no luck. I still see the "download" option even when reading forums. Any other ideas here? I just can't seem to get rid of that "download" bar and it's driving me nuts.

Is it using a safari extension? If it is, then try removing it.

I assume you already deleted the Graboid app form the /Applications folder? If you have done that, and it is still there, run Etrecheck like I mentioned in my previous comment and post the output here so we can take a look.

Hmm... nothing there jumping out at me as the issue. I am not familiar with Apptui Application though.

Try a boot to safe mode by holding the shift key at boot. That will stop all login and startup items from launching and will tell you for sure if that is the issue.

Do you have any Safari extensions installed that might be doing this?

I only use chrome really due to the cross platform compatibility. The issue is 100% related to graboid. When the program was installed you would click that box and drop down options would appear for graboid. After uninstalling it manages to stay and keeps popping up all over. I never even used the program really I thought I'd just try it for a minute but boy do i regret that.

Apptui is an AMAZING app. I had it to test on my laptop. I've cut the cord in my home and do everything through a mac mini. Apptui lets you use your phone as a remote. It controls your PC and works great with chrome it has several pre built remotes for things like netflix. All I have to do is pull my phone out of my pocket and click netflix and there it is. Same for pandora and several other services. It's not apptui I'm 110% confident it's graboid. It's all related to that program. I've even installed and run adware programs but they don't detect anything either. I've reinstalled Graboid and used 3rd party programs to uninstall but it's still giving me those issues. super annoying.
