Hey,

I have an Samsung 750 EVO SSD Disc in a Macbook 2012. I want to connect i externally to a PC or another Mac. I only have an SATA to USB connector for the SSD disc atm which allows me to connect the SSD disc with USB externally.

1. Do i also need an external disk enclosure to be able to connect the SSD disc or is it enough with the SATA to USB connector?

2. The SSD Disc is set up as a main boot HD with Mojave on my old Macbook. I want to connect it to a PC or another Mac to be able to make a backup of my old files. Is it possible?

No, the SATA to USB thingy does what you need. The enclosure is usually just a plastic shell that holds the drive and the adapter together and makes it look tidier.

Yes, the drive should be readable from another Mac and you should be able to access the files on it unless you had FileVault enabled. Windows PCs won't be able to read anything from the drive without additional software.

Both Toutou and Fishrrman are correct.

#1 - a simple SATA to USB "connector" will work, but out in the real world it doesn't have an enclosure's advantage of protecting the connections against "life experiences". For regular repeated use, an enclosure is recommended.

#2 - To use it with both a Windows PC and with Macs you'll need to either add appropriate software to the PC to allow it to read & write the "alien" drive format or you need to reformat the drive in a format that both OSs can read (e.g. exFAT). I would recommend reformatting.
