Hello everyone,

Every app I have downloaded from the App Store does not allow me to connect to my scanner which is an external scanner.

I can’t seem to find the option either on my iPad to connect to the external scanner, I can only find the external printer. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Identify your exact make and model of your scanner and MAYBE someone might have a suggestion.

Does your external scanner even support a connection to the iPad?

Personally I only know apps that scan with the built-in camera and nothing that connects to a scanner. I haven’t done any deeper research, but what does the manufacturer of your scanner recommend?

Basically it is a multi page scanner reader so I can do a chunk of documents at one time. The iPad finds the printer but not the scanner option. Canon MB 5455

That particular model looks like it only supports AirPrint and does not have a scan interface for iOS.

OP, do you have a Mac? Or PC? If so why not just scan with your computer?

i AirPrint from my iPad to my printer and then feed it through my scanner.

I presume you've tried Canon Print for Inkjet/Selphy?
Might be worth a go if not as that does work on the ipad and it allows me to scan with my Canon.

And this is (just one of the reasons - despite all the enthusiasm) why an iPad cannot replace a computer!

You might be able to direct your scanner output to cloud storage or email to get over this. A couple of our scanners will do this.

Looking up OP's printer model I'm surprised scanning is not possible through the Selphy app as @Ruggy suggested. Given the reference to the app on Canon's information pages for the MB 5455 I would have thought the scanning feature would show up in the app.

Is purchasing a new scanner an option? Recommend something like this:

I scan to cloud, documents are available on all devices.

Hello. I've just scanned with an Expression Home XP-332 (not a very modern device) to my iPad Pro. You must install some apps from EPSON and register into his own service EPSON CONNECT. I suppose each brand has his own services and apps to do that, but it's not an Apple service from factory.
