Sounds like you would need a MiniDisplay port to HDMI cable or an adapter. might not get sound out of it though. i think the 2011 models support audio. Also this is the Mac Pro section, just for reference.

My 2010 MBA supports audio over a mDP to HDMI adapter. It's late 2010, however, and not mid 2010 like OP's MBP.

I've got a 2010 MacBook Pro and just recently started to hook it up to my Samsung LCD TV. I only use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter with a regular HDMI cable. I got them both at monoprice.com and everything works perfectly.

(I think this is the one I got: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10428&cs_id=1042802&p_id=5311&seq=1&format=2)

I did have to check when my MacBook Pro was released in 2010. I think I have to first one that will carry sound with my set-up. I think the ones made previously won't carry the audio. I can't remember how to check that out, but I did research it online.
