You can't.

The only FW>USB converters available are windows only and they do not work very well.

Find another machine that has firewire, import the video using that computer, then transfer the file to your MBA.

Thank you Apple for making our lives more difficult.

SURELY Apple can squeeze a Firewire 800/400 port in the next revision of the MBA? or at the very least a 2nd USB

Pathetic. How ridiculous. All these extra adapters defeat the whole concept of ultra portability. or am i missing something here

The Air was designed as a secondary computer. It was never meant to be a user's sole machine. It was also not designed with video editing in mind.

I can understand griping about the lack of firewire on the new MacBooks, but on the Air? Not so much...

Yes Lord Vader. You make some valid points. But err.. so everyone has to carry their MBA with 4+ adapters and accessories everytime?

As the posters have mentioned, transferring the video to another computer then transferring to my MBA has always worked out for me. I also don't have a problem transferring the video to an external hard drive; saving me valuable hard drive space. I use Quicktime Pro, FCP HD, Pages and PS CS on a regular basis with my MBA...:p

Maybe not as a primary focus, but I think the Apple Mind set is leaning towards the Flash/HDD camcorders that are becoming more popular in the consumer line. The all use USB2 AFAIK.

That still doesn't help me with 2 FW camcorders, 1 FW still camera and 7 or 8 FW Drives. Only one of the FW drives have USB and the still camera's USB is USB1 IIRCC.

I was depending on the new MacBooks to have at lease FW400. Guess I'll need to save a few more months for MBP. (or ask for a raise from my day job and increase my rates for my freelance customers.)

I just don't understand why there're so many people who don't want/need the Air come here and start bashing the Air. This is almost like you don't like a 2 seats roadster but you go there and starting bashing how bad it's because it's a small car and you cannot fit more than 2 people...etc.
