How to connect wireless to the internet?

Hi. I am completely new to Mac and have just brought myself a ibook G4. I want to connect to the internet (broadband) but without the hassle or wires trailing everywhere. I have the wireless card built into my computer apparently but need to know what else I need. I was looking at something like the Belkin 54g wireless router? Would this be all I needed to go wireless? I understand apple do something called the airport express...do I need this if all I want to do is have wireless internet as it seems to have a lot of other features that I wouldn’t use and it would also require a router as well? I just want the most basic (but effective) way of connecting the net without any wires that will not break the bank.

Almost any wireless router will work. I recommend getting the Linksys WRT54G. If you want to go with a cheeper one, at least get a 802.11g capable router. 802.11b will work, but its an older technology.

i have a piece of crap Dell router that i got for free when my dad unfortunately ordered himself and my little brother Christmas presents 3 years ago. I use my powerbook and xbox every day on that router and it has never given me any problems. You can get a good router from anywhere so that's all you need. If you want to expand its range then get the airport express, otherwise just get yourself a good router.
