Hey there,

i am not getting it. I just ordered an apple tv (2nd gen) and started to convert my collection into an itunes ready format.

Now here is what i already have: A huge collection of .mkv (720p TV rips), avi (480p rips) and dvd of whole seasons.

Some of my .avis have 2 audiotracks (multilanguage; english/german). What i would like to get now: Create an itunes ready file out of this avi where i can select which audio track to listen + select english subtitles when needed (i am german and would like to watch the series in english but sometimes need a little help).

Is there any way? I tried iflicks but that only chose one audio track (and it seems that there is now way to choose the other one). Two cool features of iflicks are the support for elgatos turbo.264 hd and the great metatag system.

Does anyone of you know how i could convert my collection to the highest quality possible (for apple TV and iPad and maybe iPhone 4?) + keeping both audio tracks and have the ability to activate subtitles?

Thank you in advance!
greetings!

Handbrake will do the job for the audio tracks certainly. I think it deals with the subtitles as well, but have never bothered with them myself.

Sounds good! Will those files play on the iPad aswell?

Bummer.. seems not to work :(

Edit2: It works!! Thank you! My mistake.. it didnt sync to the ipad because the file only had an ac3 audio track. Thankfully mkv tools offers to encode this track into a 2ch aac (ipad compatible). Thanks for saving me A LOT OF time!

Only issue left: How can i convert my .avis (with 2 audio tracks) so that i can change the language (on the ipad and the atv?)

Thanks! :)

Edit: Okay seems like Handbrake can do the audio thing as KeithJenner already stated :) I guess i have all i need now ;)
