Hi,

I never had any iPod or iPhone before so I'm newbie to the newly released iPad. I'm using Win XP to connect to my iPad, but I can't seem to find a way to create albums in my iPad. I would like to organize my photos into albums.
How do you create albums without using iPhoto? Is there a 3rd party app that can do this for you?

Yeah, welcome to my world. As it turns out, you need to make a folder on your PC hard disk for all the pictures you want to add to the iPod. Then, make sub directories in that folder with folder names you want as albums on the ipod. Now you copy all the photos you want to put on the ipod in its appropriately named directory. Once you finish, connect your iPod to you PC, load up iTunes, click on your iPod device. Go to the "Photos" tab and point to the master directory (only) for syncing that you just created on your PC. Select all directories. All the sub directories you created, with photos in them will appear on the iPad as same named "albums". Clear as mud? :D

PS. if you want to remove photos on the iPad, you have to remove them on your PC first, then sync again. It all kinda makes sense once you've done it a few times. We PC guys have to start thinking like Apple now. :p:rolleyes:

Oh sweet ...

Oh sweet, thanks for the quick reply. That is exactly what I'm looking for, but I can't figure it out myself. First time using iTunes as well.

The staff at Apple Store was trying to sell me a new macbook, according to him, I can only create album in iPhoto which is available to Mac OSX only. Lucky me, I didn't fall for it, I know better not to trust any sales rep.

Thanks again, happy easter.

The ePhotochest app works well on the iPhone. If for some reason you can't use your PC/Mac (eg on holiday, etc) this app is pretty useful for dividing up your photos. And it's free :)
