Hi all,

I have a few PNG files that I'd like to use to make icons that I can put on various folders and use as my hard drive icon. Is this possible to do in Photoshop or Preview?

I tried to save a PNG as an ICO file in Preview, but when I look in "Get Info" to try to copy the icon (at the top) to the new place, it just shows as a generic Preview ICO file.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I just tried it with a PNG.

  1. Open the PNG
  2. Select All (CMD+A)
  3. View info on folder
  4. Select icon in top left (blue border appears)
  5. Paste (CMD+V)
  6. Folder became the PNG image

I'll give it a try. Didn't realize that was possible. Thanks!
