How to customize text color?

There may be some third party apps that allow you to do that, or you may be able to do it if you jail break. But not stock iOS.
Oh seriously? 2015 and I can't even change text color? Doesn't everyone get tired of looking at blue and green text bubbles with black text?
Many people care mostly about the content not its presentation. That said, there are third party apps that will allow for formatting of text, in addition to jailbreaking and using some tweaks for that kind of thing.
Not really. It shows me the content as well as whether it's sent via iMessage or SMS. All is good for me.
As I understand it, it's not entirely safe to use keyboard apps because they have access to whatever you type?
No. I know what Apple brings out on the new OS at the launch event each year. So if what's coming is something that is absolutely a nonstarter for me, I don't buy the device. Thus far, since 2009, there hasn't been anything that Apple has done that is a nonstarter.
If there were a nonstarter issue, I'd go with another device.
So the only way is to hand over control to a random developer who may or may not be using your personal messages for their own uses.
