Apologies if this question has been asked before.

When receiving multiple text messages from a single person, iphone puts them all together in a conversation style.
Is there anyway to delete a specific single text message from a conversation?

Thank you.

Thank you for the reply.

I have been using the iphone for 2 days or so and realized there are many practical features missing. Let's hope we see a software upgrade soon.

I've had mine a week now.. noticed similar short comings, but I can live with them.
Although my fiancee was shocked when she sent me an MMS and I said I can't see them - "The iPhone can't show picture messages???" was her reaction - and rightly so :)

thank god for software updates :p

I can understand that there may be a reason for wanting a single message deleted, but the way Apple probably looks at the situation, if you are going to delete a single message, then the entire conversation might be thrown off and you might as well delete the entire conversation. I know that it isn't the most practical way of doing it, especially since other phones let you delete single messages, but other phones don't let you view them in conversation style either. But I don't see them making this a change in the next beg patch.

Valid point JML - but a "Delete all messages before this one" feature wouldn't break that - I could end up with massive conversations otherwise. :p and sometimes you just want to keep one message from a thread - a save message feature might also be good - you can save one message to a special folder or something and delete the entrie thread.

things like MMS won't be coming soon either I don't think...

I have a Treo that displays in conversational style and lets me delete individual messages.

It also sends/receives MMS and has copy/paste. ;)

Something I'd like too, as well as an option to maybe not group them as a conversation. But like Copy/Paste, I can see it coming in a future update especially after someone at Apple acknowledged the lack of c&p, that it's on their list, but just not high priority atm. Can't remember where I read it though...

I was more of comparing the iPhone's texting features to that of my crappy LG Verizon phone. And there are definitely features that other phones have that the iPhone lacks (your Treo has at least 3).
