I want to delete all my previous data on my iCloud account and then use the apple ID using same email address as new.
Can I delete my apple ID and then create a new apple ID having same email address as earlier, with no previous data stored on the iCloud.

I don’t think you can do that. If I am not mistaken, once you make an Apple ID, that is it, even if you never use it.

That sounds like a question for Apple support. if it can be done, it would require a very high level Apple tier support to take care of it on their end.

Not sure how accurate this site is, but it seems to make sense to me

Deleting an iCloud Email Address
You cannot delete an iCloud email address without deleting the Apple account it belongs to, because this email address is the Apple ID for this account.

There may be very old accounts (mac.com or me.com), where your Apple ID is your self-chosen username. Then you might have a chance. But if you change the username, you have to use an @iCloud.com email address for the new user name.

Deleting an iCloud email account wasn’t possible in the past, but has been made available by Apple in May of 2018 to support the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This is mandatory for users in Europe, but Apple thankfully implemented those features for users world-wide.

Deleting an iCloud account would mean a user cannot login anymore and purchased items like movies, TV shows, eBooks and apps for iOS and macOS wouldn’t be accessible anymore as well. A deleted iCloud email address cannot be reused by anyone, even by yourself.

Thanks for posting correct information. I am glad to see I was wrong about being able to delete the account.

"Rumor" is that it can be used again, but only after 12 months. Never tried it and have no firm evidence it will even work then.

Why? Just log out of all but one of your devices and then delete everything. Then you are starting from scratch without the hassle of recreating the account.

But how to delete all stuff from that Apple ID ? I don’t see a way to delete content directly from iCloud - messages, contacts , etc. and if you delete content using an Apple device , it deletes that from all connected devices.
I just want to reset my iCloud account without deleting content from devices.

Also I think it’s possible to change an existing username (non @icloud.com) to another (non @icloud.com).

I’d argue deleting your old Apple ID and register a new one makes the most sense if you just want to give up everything you have bought in the past. It kinda sucks to lose the favourite email address but database record cannot be removed, contrary to the common belief.

How many devices do you have? Log out on one that has everything, but chose to keep all data on device as you log out. Then delete everything from another device and then when you relog on the first device it will repopulate everything.

Which again begs the question of why, since you are immediate putting everything back into the cloud that was there before. Do you think something is corrupt on the cloud only and not your devices or something? What is it you think this will fix or change when you want to keep all the same data?

I have two iPhones and one MacBook. one iPhone and the MacBook are using first apple ID. while the other iPhone is using second apple ID.

i have done - logout from second apple ID while keeping everything on the device, and then delete everything from first iPhone using first apple ID. then login the second iPhone to the first apple ID.
but still sms text messages lying on the second iPhone are not being populated to the first iPhone.

I want to discontinue the use of second apple ID since I don't use that email address otherwise. I want to use the first apple ID whose email address I use even for non-apple correspondence. but to shift to the first apple ID, i need to migrate all my existing SMS text messages as well to all the devices connected to the first apple ID. Otherwise in future, I will not have synchronised sms text messages across all devices. Restoring sms from iCloud backup is not possible because when you switch on the messages in iCloud, it automatically disables iCloud backup of sms messages. local backup is not a method i use for keeping backups- so synchronising using local backups is not an option.

Ok well that is a lot more clear explanation of what you are trying to do. Honestly your first post did not ask that at all.

I take it you wanted to keep no data from the first Apple ID? If so...

I would try... for this once you could make a local backup of the second iPhone on your MacBook, then reset the first Apple iPhone and login with the first Apple ID but restore it from the local backup you made to the MacBook.

Obviously restoring first iphone using the local backup of second iPhone is possible.
But this is what I don't want- restoring from local backup.
Because I don't use the local backup method for anything. I only use messages in iCloud. It makes me independent of the access to local computer containing the backup. I can operate anywhere using iCloud.

iCloud backup is “backup all restore all” system. You cannot selectively choose which one you want to restore, though you can choose which app data to backup to some extent.
For messages, I doubt merging database is possible, with or without iCloud backup.
I have heard that Apple does keep multiple iCloud backups. If so, you can play around and see what it will happen.

I am not interested in merging message database.
When I logout iPhone 1 of iCloud account 1 and login to iCloud account 2, I want that all messages from iPhone 1 get synced to devices logged in to iCloud account 2. I am willing to accept this syncing which might require that the devices logged on iCloud account 2 need to be restored as new to delete all existing messages lying on those devices.

So, does that mean you want to put messages on iCloud account 1 into iCloud account 2? If that’s the case, this sounds like you are trying to merge messages from both accounts together.

Or, do you just want your iPhone 1 to have messages linked to iCloud account 2 instead of iCloud account 1? Assuming iCloud message is turned on, I think it should only be a matter of syncing from the iCloud after logging out and logging in.

I don’t think you understand my point. You use the local backup method one time. After that is done and you re sign into iCloud (using the account you want to keep) and turn on messages in iCloud that in my theory will then load your iCloud messages to the phone and your phone messages (which where loaded onto the phone from the local backup) to the cloud.

I don’t see another way to even try. You are trying to do something once to get the messages from one account to another. You may need to use a method you don’t want to use regularly one time to make that happen.

He doesn’t see it as merging because he doesn’t care if the iCloud 2nd account is wiped out completely before begging the process. The problem is even if there is no data in one of the accounts, it is still a merger of the two accounts.

I highly doubt it. The person re-creating an Apple ID with a previously used name will receive emails that are not supposed to be for them. It's a major security risk.

I want this with slight modification.
I want that the messages lying locally on the iPhone 1 , which were received on that iPhone while it was earlier logged on to iCloud account 1, should get synced to all devices logged in to iCloud account 2 when the iPhone 1 is logged on to iCloud account 2.
As rightly stated in one post above, I don’t care if the messages already available on iCloud account 2 ate wiped out and get replaced with messages from iPhone 1.

And again, reset the phone to scratch, use a local backup from the phone who’s data you want, then after it’s loaded from the local backup, log into the actual iCloud account you want to use and see if it will then load everything into the iCloud account. The local backup will only be used this one time for this process, after which you’ll turn on all iCloud stuff for the phone. It’s the only way I see a chance, and I’d say that’s a 50/50 chance. But I see no other way.

You do want to merger the databases from a technical standpoint, it doesn’t matter if one is empty so there isn’t any data on one side of the merge.

At some point you may need to just give up on merging the messages. It might be tied to the phone number of the phone somehow along with the iCloud account login. But there’s only one way to find out that I can see.

Yeah, no matter how I look at it, he is likely trying to merge two message databases together. I don’t really see that happening.

Afaik, once iCloud messages are turned on, it does not seem to be possible to turn off without deleting messages from local devices. I could be wrong though.

Let me tell from what I checked, you can turn off messages in iCloud without deleting messages locally available on the device. The local messages don't get deleted if the messages in iCloud are turned off.

I also checked the following.

Two iPhones (1 & 2) were on the same iCloud account 1.
I logged out both iPhone 1 and iPhone 2 from iCloud account 1.
Then some SMS messages were received on the iPhone 1 while it was logged out.
Now I login both devices again to the same iCloud account 1 ( no change in account from earlier). Messages in iCloud was enabled on both devices.
I expect that now the SMS received on iPhone 1 while it was logged out, to get synced to iPhone 2 as well through messages in iCloud from iCloud account 1.
But this syncing of messages from iPhone 1 to iPhone 2 on the same iCloud account 1 does not happen.
