How to delete contents of camera roll

I have not found a way to delete the contents of my camera roll, other than to select each one at a time/multiselect and delete. Is there a way to delete everything at once?

My online searches keep complaining about the lack of a delete-all feature and revert to the select and delete. All of those posts are quite old, so I'm hoping something is now available to help.

If you tap 'select' you should then be able to drag a finger down over all the items you wish to delete, rather than tapping them individually. Thats if I'm understanding correctly.

yea, that's what I meant by "multiselect". it's not like I can click the first and last to select them all, I'd have to highlight each row and then do it again for the next row.
The problem for me is that there's thousands of pictures in my camera roll, so that doesn't seem like a feasible option.

Yeah I see what you mean, but you don't have to select each row. You can drag across the first row and then just pull down to the bottom. Not ideal, but it's pretty quick.

Also not ideal, but an option: Tap "Photos" at bottom of Photos app, then Select, and now you can tap the Selects next to the date groupings of the pictures. Scroll through the list to select dates you want, tap Trash, then over to Albums and Recently Deleted to do the final flush.

Assuming you have a Mac...

1) Connect iPhone to your Mac
2) Launch Image Capture app
3) If needed, select the device in the sidebar
4) Select desired photos (Cmd-click), or All photos (Cmd-A) from the list.
5) Click Delete Button
6) Confirm the desired action.

Should take all of 30 seconds or less.

Image Capture is a handy little app that's standard issue on every Mac, but flies under the radar. Like a Font/DA Mover for photos…

…which probably means Apple will neuter or drop it at some point.

Holy cow

I haven't used Image Capture in probably a decade... the interface has changed (a lot for a little program).

It's deleting right now and I believe this method will work perfectly!

If you don’t have a Mac (like me) you can also use Google Photo. It has an option to delete all of the images and video from your camera roll — but only after backing them up to the cloud (Google Account).
