Should be simple, but I'm having trouble understanding how. I have several duplicate albums and songs. In iTunes I can bring up my iPod touch. There it lists all 1000 songs and I can arrange by album, artist, etc. There are boxes to check to the left of each.

Once I find the duplicate album or song, how do I delete it? I'm sure there is a sync involved, but what do I select and how do I delete from my iPod (not the library)?

Thanks

In iTunes, under the View menu, choose "Show Duplicate Items." Then you can uncheck them for manual sync or delete them. Then sync (or manually manage) your iPod.

No way, I just spent forever sifting through my ipod tracking down duplicates manually! Wish I had seen this sooner.

Just be careful, because I have more than one case of identical artist, identical song title, and totally different song! (Obviously happens with live vs studio album, but I have different cases).

I found "Show Duplicate Items" at "on my device/Music" but it's grayed out. I tried checking and unchecking all songs but can't get that menu choice activated.

You're close, but you have your iPod selected. It won't work there, thus why it's greyed out.

You need to click on the music tab in iTunes for your locally stored music. Then you can sort them and delete duplicates.

It looks like you selected your device. Select the music "tab" instead and then it won't be grayed out.

Watching this with interest and have followed all these steps. My iPad mini has duplicates that are NOT in my computer-based iTunes, even after syncing multiple times. How do I remove these duplicates from my iPad mini? Thanks!

I've got the same issue on my iPhone music library. Music in there that I have no idea where it came from. It's not items I've bought or even know who they are and it's not something I physically placed on my iPhone either. In fact, regularly I'll delete ALL the music and playlists on my iPhone just to start over, and somehow within a few weeks, I've got junk in there that I have no clue as to where it came from.
