The info for my harddisk (ssd 256GB, rMB) says that there are files (ca 24GB) that can be removed but I don't know what or where those files are and how they got there in the first place.
I've seen it before but normally it is not more than a few GB and after a reboot they could be gone but now it seems it gets more and more since I am on High Sierra.
Can somebody enlighten me?
Thanks

In English, it's "purgeable".

According to Apple, "purgeable" means "storage space that your Mac can automatically make available when storage space is needed". This is typically files that can be downloaded again, like purchased iTunes content, iCloud Drive files, etc. You don't need to remove this data.

Thank you for the explanation and the link.
It was a bit confusing. It looked like I had more free space than I actually have (152GB free + 118GB = 270GB on a 256GB rMB!).
It's more that of the used space 24GB is downloaded and I only have 128GB free (152GB -24GB= 128GB) available?
I live remote and can only use a mobil internet connection with limited data. So I rather don't use cloud services.
I can't imagine what those 24GB could be, besides 7GB Spotify content I downloaded when I was on the mainland.
It's no problem since I have plenty of space but more out of curiosity.
But we were 'loosing' a lot of our data plan lately which stopped when I shut down my girlfriends MBA (on Yosemite) with almost no free space left on her SSD. Is it possible that the OS removed some stuff when it needed free space and later 'automatically' downloaded it again after she cleaned up some of her stuff on the SSD?

You can delete the items in the cache folders but you don’t need to because your apps will just build them up again

Library/cache/
System/Library/cache/
YourUserName/Library/cache

Thank you.
I might have find out what this 24GB is.

Time Machine makes local snapshots in Sierra (and later) which are 'removed' after a TM back up.

I just made my monthly back up and now all the 'purgeable' files are 'removed' (backed up to my ext HDD) and my used space went from 120GB down to 98GB.
