Is there a way of deleting these files.

The desktop pictures folder has about 1Gb of the these images.

The folder appears to be locked and I cannot delete them.

But SIP is already disabled.

These files could be deleted in Mojave, not sure why so with Catalina.
 
After disabling SIP, you have to mount the system volume as writable with
Code:
sudo mount -wu /
