Ok, I was visiting a web site and did "share" and then "Add to Homescreen" which of course put a nifty little icon on the home screen, which I can tap to instantly open that website. However, now I want to delete that little icon and can't figure out how. WHen I press the icons and they start to wiggle, this particular icon does not have an X to delete it. I've searched Google and saw were there were ways to do this on older ios, but how to do it on iOS 14? Anyone know?

Thanks in advance.

Just tap and hold the shortcut (do not hold the homescreen until the icons wiggle). A menu pops up and you can delete the favorite.

I am having the exact same problem. I've researched, tried many things, but can't get rid of the shortcut.

Well, did you read my post? It is that easy.
There is nothing on the menu to delete the icon.

Tried that before I posted here. No, does not work. There is something else going on.
Problem solved. I called Apple Support and the guy had to call a more senior guy, but we got it figured out. Now, this makes NO sense to me, but it allowed me to get the "Delete Bookmark" on the website icon. Here is what you do:

Settings >> Screentime.
Scroll to the bottom and turn Screentime OFF.
Go back and press the icon you wish to delete. (Not enough to make icons wiggle, just to get the popup window)
You should now see the "Delete Bookmark" option (in red).

Does this make sense? Not to me, but it worked.

That worked! It makes zero sense to me but happy to have a solution. Thanks for sharing that.

Zero sense? One of the options in Screen Time>Content & Privacy Restrictions>iTunes & App Store Purchases is "Deleting Apps"…Allow or disallow.
I stand by my statement. I don't see what the ability to delete "Apps" in the "iTunes & App Store Purchases" has to to with the ability or inability to delete a Safari Bookmark that I've added to my home screen. It's not an App, it's a book mark and the funtion that turns on/off the ability to delete a book mark is buried 5 layers deep into the settings in an area that has nothing to do with bookmarks. In makes zero sense (and even the Apple Tech had to call a senior person to get help figuring it out).

Strange. Just tested it on my iPhone with iOS 14.4 and a long-press (without “x” or anything wiggling) always brings up a red delete line in the options lists, both for the apps and bookmarks. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I guess you've gotta be a "senior person" like me!
