I want to edit the description, comments, and other metadata of photos in my Photos library on the iPad Pro (I’m using iCloud Photo Library).

I want to for example add a description to metadata of photo of wedding text like “My favorite cousin in-laws’ wedding!” Something that should be very simple, right?

Is there a way to do this on the iPad without going to my laptop?

Have you tried Photo Investigator from the App Store? I believe it is $2.99 USD to unlock, but I have used it to edit and add comments to photos

Lightroom CC on iPad allows metadata editing for Title, Caption, Rating, etc.

in the default app no there is not. just like you can't add location data, keywords, hand mark faces. all of which are probably more useful features than the better 'memory' creation etc they are hyping for iOS 12

Google photos has some functionality to add a description and will show meta data such if available about device, aperture etc.
