How to disable a website?

Sorry, i mighht sound really illeterate here.

But I need to disable a website, so if I type the url I wont be able to open it.

I am addicted to it and I want to get rid of the addiction because it is taking away a lot of my time.

You could always redirect the name to nowhere (your machine) lookup by adding

studentdoctor.net 127.0.0.1
www.studentdoctor.net 127.0.0.1

to your hosts file.

Open terminal. Type "sudo pico /etc/hosts" without the quotes. Press enter.

Put in your password, press enter. This will show up:

Navigate with your arrow keys, type in the appropriate stuff:

Then press Control+O, then enter again. It will say "wrote x lines" and you're set.

Note that the actual forums seem to be at forums.studentdoctor.net, so you'll need to add a line for that one too.

One last note on this topic, is that that doesn't stop someone from visiting the site by IP number, i.e. http://209.11.254.45, so it won't stop someone who is dtermined, but it will make it harder.
