I want to keep auto turn on when lid opens enabled, but I think pressing any key (even trackpad) could boot up the machine is stupid.

Will I be able to just turn this off without turning off the whole 'lid open' thing?

I just don't understand what apple thinks these days. If we want it to be on we can press power button, we are not moron.

Thanks.

what a pain in the ass! Apple really think we don’t know where the power button is.

Power buttons, what a pain, why on earth would we want to have some sort of button that makes the device "not on". Lets get rid of these stupid power button things and make sure they are always working no matter what.

(Seriously, most people don't need a special button that makes the device "not on")

I could be wrong, but I don’t think his problem was with the Power Button. I think it was with Apples assumption that every time you open the lid you want the machine to power on, rather than giving the user the option to simply push the power button if turning it on was what you wanted to do.

Granted, Apple probably isn’t wrong most of the time. You probably do want it to power on. But nothing wrong with giving the user the option to configure that behavior

Sadly, it's my understanding that there is no way to prevent booting/waking by merely pressing a key, or touching the trackpad. It seems there is no way to configure that.
Indeed, I asked a similar question here not long ago.

But...
I can confirm that this turns off booting (and waking) my MBP when merely I open the lid;

sudo nvram AutoBoot=%00
sudo reboot

I can also confirm that this turns off waking when [re]connecting the AC adapter;

sudo pmset -a acwake 0
sudo reboot

Thanks!

So sudo pmset -a acwake 0 works in clamshell mode as well?

THAT! Exactly! I submitted a feature request for that... but I'm pretty sure it'll just go into file 13. Same as any others...
