Is there an easy way to make a mac unusable by making some changes to it and later be able to fix it easily. My kid is addicted to using mac, so I want to make it look like it needs repair to keep him away from it for sometime. I don't want to cause real damage to it, and be able to able to undo and restore to it's good state.

If a portable, Take the fuse out of the charging wire and run it down. If a desktop really easy. Anything else would be potentially damaging.

More generally I would look to use the time limitations set up for these situations. Really you want to develop some self control. As soon as the machine is mended the behaviour will return. Look for alternate activities for the times when the machine would have been used.

Kids will always outsmart the adults.

Looking for tech solutions to deal with childhood discipline issues will always fail.
