Hi Everyone,

I have recently migrated from a Motorola Defy (Android Phone) to an iPhone 5. In every regard, except contacts management, I am finding the iPhone to be a superior phone.

Traditionally my Motorola only showed contacts with phone numbers if I went into my "phone" app, e.g.: pressed the little green phone hand piece icon. However whenever I click on "phone" with my new iPhone 5 I am seeing all my contacts, including those contacts that do not have phone numbers (but instead only email addresses) associated with them. On each phone all contact information has been retrieved from my work email address (Exchange account), so I figure a difference between the phones is causing my current issue.

There doesn't seem to be any way of telling the iPhone to only display contacts with phone numbers when selecting the "phone" app. Perhaps contacts can be better managed through Outlook (Exchange). If anybody has any advice on how to display only contacts with phone numbers when selecting the phone app it will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Davo

In the Contacts app, you could designate only the Contacts with phone numbers as Favorites and then use the Favorites list in the Phone app to perform the function that you want.

Hello lelisa13p,

Thank you for your suggestion, however I am looking for a more "automated" approach, such as tweaking through Outlook. My challenge is that there are over 1000 contacts and manually sorting through these and adding them to favourites is too big a task.

Kind Regards,

Davo

I am also looking for a solution to this issue as well. In Android, I can simply choose to only display contacts that have phone number. Couldn't figure out how to do this in iphone 6 & iOS 8.1

The Phone app is just going to reflect what's in Contacts and I don't know of a slick way to add all contacts with phone numbers to Favorites.

You can might be able to find a third-party contacts app that will display what you want. I do know that the T9 type app "Instacall" won't show you any non-phone contacts when you begin key entry.

There is a link here on how:

I had a problem with duplicate contacts at one stage. Even more annoying.

I am not looking to remove contacts.

I have over 1000 contacts in my address book, some only have email address, no phone number. What I want is to hide those contacts with no phone number and only display contacts that have phone number.
Doesn't seem like this is possible in iOS.

I just switched to iPhone 6 from Samsung note 4 after heard all the good about iOS. Regretful, there are so much I can do in android that iOS CAN'T do and the samsung Note 4 is much smoother and battery last much longer than iPhone.

Potentially a third party app that would provide something like that.

old thread, but does iOS really can't do this? No option to display contacts with phone number only?

Yeah, not doing that for 1,500 + contacts!

Ugh, iPhones suck! Bad Contacts, can't mass text, I hate work only uses iPhones!

Have you tried various third party apps that deal with contacts?

If you have 1000 contacts and only 500 have phone numbers what difference does it make? It takes just as long to type a search or use the alphabet feature.

My iPhone 6 can only display 11 contacts at a time.

Having said that it would be nice if the Mac's Contacts app would reflect the "Favorites" section (currently iOS-only) as a group. That would make it easier to organize.

It's quit simple go to iCloud in your browser or on a Mac.
open your Contact app, show all contacts do a search on the + charachter, drag the whole selection to your Favorites
repeat that with a search with a 0.
