How to do 100% COMPLETE fresh restore from iOS 9 to iOS 8.4??

Hi guys,

I tried iOS 9, and I didn't like it, so I restored back to iOS 8.4. I tried just plugging the 5S to mac, and pressing restore (no backup), and I also tried the home button pressed and connect, and restored that way too. But It seems like some of iOS bugs remain after I'm back to iOS 8.4.

First, my mute switch isn't working. I actually got my phone battery replaced when I was on iOS 9 public beta 3, and when I got the phone back from repair shop, the mute switch didn't do anything. My CC said rotation lock, so the mute button should be actual mute button.

Then, I don't know if this issue was from iOS 9 as well, but I'm on iOS 8.4 without restoring backup, and if I open ANY app, like settings, if I do a quick scrolling down right after opening Settings, it doesn't respond for 1 second (freezes), then scrolls fine. It's just anytime app is launched, it does this. Once I'm in the app, whatever I do, it's responsive. If I press home button, home screen is responsive too. It's just when I open any app, right away, it freezes for 1 second. I doubt this has to do with battery replacement. This doesn't sound like a hardware problem to me.

However, no matter how I restore my phone back to iOS 8.4, these two bugs don't go away.

Also, the mute switch bug, I don't know if you guys with iPhone 5s have it, but some others also has it. Please see here: https://forums.developer.apple.com/thread/6617

Could someone please help me?? How do I do a complete 100% new install of iOS 8.4? I used iTunes on my mac, but do I have to redownload the iOS 8.4 file by deleting it from iTunes?

One more thing I noticed. Once in an app, If I bring up control centre, and put it down again, the app isn't responsive for a second again.....Have no idea why it's doing this..

That's always happened to certain apps.

Really? Because I never noticed it before. An does it happen to you in Settings? Please let me know. i'm on iOS 8.4, and I don't think I experienced this before I installed iOS 9 beta.

I haven't noticed this both bugs on iOS 8.4 before updating to 9 beta...

Pretty sure there is no way to 'upgrade' to 8.4 so if you got 8.4 back you did a clean install

Okay, but another question then. The second bug I listed above with apps not responding for 1 second right after opening the app, and while in the app, open and close control centre or notification centre, and the current app doesn't respond for 1 second again. Is this a bug in iOS 8.4? I need to know if this is a hardware issue or software issue, or it's because I just installed the OS, and a lot of background stuff is running, so it's not as responsive? I really need an answer..

EDIT: Also, during that 1 second of freeze, I can click on something, like in a settings app, but just the scrolling is not responsive. Then after 1 second, everything is fine..

The most thorough way to restore is to connect the USB cable, load iTunes, hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds, then release Power and continue holding Home until iTunes tells you that it's detected the phone (usually takes 5-15 seconds). This is known as "direct firmware upload (DFU) mode".

This method doesn't seem to restore the iWork apps though, so you'll need to download them separately if you want them. I've been meaning to ask about that...

I just tried that method of restoring, and it still has the two bugs i mentioned...I also found out that auto rotate doesn't work... But even if auto rotate and mute switch is due to hardware issue, I really can't believe the screen briefly unresponsiveness is due to hardware...it's just the scrolling that's the problem for 1 second, and home and lock screens are perfectly fine..

Okay here is the update! I got the issues fixed. They were hardware related. when I got my battery replaced, the screws for the shield were not in correct spots, so they put them correctly for me, and now everything works as expected! Mute switch, rotation both work and apps are always responsive.
