I’ve always done a fresh clean install on all my macs and never had an issue. I know to update to 11.0.1 before doing it or it bricks it. Problem is, I can’t download big sur to the app folder so I can make a bootable usb. How do you do it? I’m running the 11.0.1 but it just downloads it and then says an error “an error occurred while installing the selected updates”.
I’m not trying to update. I’m already running 11.0.1. I’m trying to download the file.

Reboot, got to the top of the screen before you enter your password and erase your disk. It will start the process of registering your computer again...after that follow the screen and you are good togo....
