How to do a google search from Safari bar?

In old Safari if you just enter FB, AAPL it does a google search but it now it tries to be too smart and FB takes you to facebook etc.

I just typed both FB and AAPL and was taken to google...not sure why typing those in are taking you to their respective websites.

in safari 6 if you type appl or fb it does a google search.

but if you type apple or facebook it automatically adds ".com" and sends you to the page.
