How to do lines with depth effect?

I was wondering how can I do in photoshop something similar to the line in this pic. Basically a line that looks like it is carved in or has some kind of depth.

It's actually two lines. One a bit darker than the background on top of a line that's a bit lighter than the background.

After getting out the magnifying glass ......

you could just use the bevel and emboss effect (several options depending on intensity etc) in the layer style.
It has the added benefit of being able to be copied to more than one line and saves on additional lines/layers being created in the document

that was done by my suggestion by the looks of it

I tried playing around with the bevel and emboss but I just can't get the same look. I tried by both drawing a line with a lighter color or a darker color, then applying some bevel/emboss but still can't get it. PS n00b here

You need to get a single pixel black line and a single pixel white line. Then offset so you end up with a 2 pixel line – half black half white.

Set the black line to 'multiply' layer blend and the white line to 'screen' layer blend. Then play with the layer opacity until you get it exactly right. Normally 80% layer opacity works best but it depends which colour your using it on. (if your on yellow for example they'll need to much fainter)
