I activated iCloud yesterday. Works fine but...

Once I upload an iWork document (Pages) form my MBP or MBA it would not be downloadable from iCloud to any of my Macs. It appears automatically on my iPhone, as expected and once I open it on my iPhone it becomes downloadable from the iCloud. Not before I do that.

This does not look right to me. Isn't it supposed to be ready for download on any machine once in the iCloud? Looks like a bug to me.

Anyone?

Am I the only one

Can't believe I am the only one who has the problem. Or am I doing something wrong?

It's a very strange system.
1) drag file to web interface
2) open on iOS device and edit
3) download from web interface
4) edit and close
5) drag from downloads folder back to web interface
6) clean out file and backup from downloads folder
7) go back to using MobileMe or dropbox or something else!

How did you know I started to use dropbox? :)
Well I hope Apple will figure out before they switch off my MobileMe.

Just go to iCloud.com, open iWork. You'll see all of your documents.

Click on a document and you will see a "Download" button appear, or do a secondary click on any one of them and choose download. It will download to your Mac.

You can now edit it as you see fit.

Back on the web interface you can then choose to upload a document by clicking the gear icon in the top right corner. Or you can just drag and drop the document onto the web interface.

Upload your newly edited document.

You will be asked if you would like to replace the existing document. Say yes and it will replace it with your edits and push them all to your iOS devices.

It seems like a cumbersome operation, but it's not really that bad once you've done it once or twice.

I think it's stupid that iWork on the Mac can't be set up to automatically use iCloud like it can on iOS, but I'm guessing that'll be a feature in a new version of iWork.

I have to hope that theres a bunch of people in some room at 1 Infinite Loop who are hard at work on an iWork '11 or '12 with iCloud support baked in transparently, because the current system seems tacked on and almost an afterthought.

Download option greyed

The problem is that when I upload a pages file download option is greyed and not available until I first open it on my iPhone. I can not upload on my MBP and download on my MBA.

Got to agree with this. I thought iCloud was supposed to be invisible. Why is this not like Dropbox where my files would simply upload and sync in the background?

Why does the iPad have a different font and aspect changes if the doc i created on my iMac was in Pages to begin with?

Maybe I am too late, but I have iCloud on a MBP and a new Macair. Once I got the docs into pages on the MBP, they appeared on the MA. Great. Doc 1 downloaded fine. The others lit up when I clicked, but no download button appeared. I took the advice to go to my 4S and take a look. Yep, there were the documents, and they all downloaded just fine. Went back to the MA, and they all downloaded just fine. What disturbs me is that one did and the others didn't. All or none would be more explicable. Or my lack of knowledge.
