I am using SDK 3.0, but I heard someone saying there are still a number of people using iPhone 2.0 and iPod Touch 2.0, and 3.0/3.1 should be back-compatible with 2.0, so I want to download 2.0 SDK, but I cannot find it, can anyone provide me a link? Is there anything I should take care of when installing(e.g. extract the SDK to some folder while not overwriting existing SDK)?
Thanks !

You can test and simulate your creation in earlier versions of iPhone software in the SDK. Alternatively, you can test on a device that uses the earlier version, if you can find one. I have my iPhone upgraded, but have an iPod Touch that still uses v2.2.1. I wouldn't worry too much about very early users, as I don't get the impression there are that many.

jnic, I read that pie chart as saying that 26% of all admob requests came from 2.x devices. Also, 65% of iTouch requests came from 2.x devices. This was during a period in September.

OP, what OS are you on? If on Leopard the very latest 3.1 SDK includes support for 2.2.1 development, including running on the Sim. I don't see why you need anything else than that. If you're on SL you may just be out of luck. The older SDKs aren't supported on that OS and the latest SDK only has partial support for 2.2.1 development.

I was referring to the proportion of users not supported by the latest SDK, which, as you rightly say, supports 2.2.1, and thus 93% of users.

OIC, IMO there's no point in supporting anything older than 2.2.1. Anyone running something older than that isn't going to actually pay for new software.

I thought Xcode 3.1.4 droppd simulator support for OS 2.2.1?

The sim support for pre-3.0 OSes was dropped on Snow Leopard. 3.1.4 on Leopard retains the older Sim support.

Also, it's possible to reset the OS on an iPod Touch to 2.2.1 from 3.1. I just did that with mine. It's apparently not possible to downgrade like that with iPhones.

This is great news (about 3.1.4 for Leopard and OS 2.2.1 simulator support)! I'm still using 3.1.3, but it looks like there's no reason for me to not upgrade.

Thanks again

Yeah, I hated it since I have an iPhone. The nice thing is that they added it back into the new SDK.
