How to email a calendar invite to show up in my iOS calendar

Morning,

This seems simple but I suspect my setup is causing issues. I've been using Google calendar for years, but want to switch to the iOS calendar.

Everything seems ok, I exported and imported from google calender into my iOS calendaer but if I now send an invite to my gmail account, then I don't see that appear as an option to accept within my iOS calendar?

I'm using the gmail email client on my iPhone, if I switched to the iOS Mail app would that solve the issue?

If not is there a solution to this?

By your "iOS Calendar" do you mean the calendar is an Apple iCloud hosted one?
