Hi,

My father is using a MacPro 4.1 5.1 running High Sierra version 10.3.3
I tried to connect their TV 4k to the MacPro and I couldn't get Audio via HDMI.

Later this week I'll update the Mac under the latest high sierra version.
Meanwhile if you have any idea on how to enable the audio that would be cool ;)

- Is it possible?
- Do I need to install or edit a Kext file?
- Or The R9 380 is not fully supported under High Sierra

Thanks

there's always the old school audio out or optical out on the back of the macpro.

Heh, never thought about the optical back there. I wonder if one of those HDMI audio injector things would work (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-BlackbirdTM-HDMI-Audio-Inserter/dp/B01B5FR7PY). Course it's $50 and extra cable clutter, but for people who don't want to mess with kexts I guess it's probably a viable option.

OP, what I think you're looking for is this: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/guide-hdmi-audio.1499797/
