How to enable native 4k on LG monitor?

I recently purchased a Mac mini with the apple silicon M1. I have the LG 24 inch 4K display (24UD58-B) which its supposed to be compatible with Mac OS. On About this Mac, under display it recognizes it as a 4K display (3840 × 2160) but it recognizes as a 27 inch display and if I go to display preferences its set as default in looks like 1920 x 1080, if I try to set it to 3840 x 2160 all the UI, windows, etc appears really small and tiny. Is there any way to set to 3840 x 2160 without compromising the UI, icons, windows, etc? I am using the HDMI cable that came with the monitor.

I tried also to hold the opt key while selecting scale but is the same if I try to upscale the display the UI gets really small

When it says “looks like 1920x1080” it means it’s rendering using “@2x” mode, aka retina mode. It’s rendering a 4K picture but pixel doubling things so they’re not tiny. The result is crisp text and icons.

things like photos and videos should still render as 1:1 pixels.

"Looks like 1920x1080" is 3840x2160.
"Looks like 2560x1440" is 5120x2880 frame buffer scaled down to 3840x2160 output.
etc.

"Looks like" means it's a Retina or HiDPI mode where things are drawn twice as wide and twice as tall (in pixels) as they are for a low resolution mode. There's a checkbox to "Show low resolution modes". By that definition, 3840x2160 is also a low resolution mode - it is shown in the non-low resolution list because it is the native resolution of the display.
